Upper Mustang Trek
Upper Mustang trek offers a spectacular trekking experience in the remote trans-Himalayan mountain region of Nepal. Here you will experience a way of life of true mountain people, who for hundreds of years, had very little contact with the rest of Nepal and retained their rich cultural heritage.
Surprising this Upper Mustang trekking is one of the best treks to do even in the monsoon season in Nepal. Hence it lies in the rain shadow, north of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, completely sheltered from the monsoon.
Entering Lo Manthang through the town gate is like stepping into a different world. A world of narrow alleyways, hidden chortens, long walls of beautiful prayer wheels and herds of farming animals sauntering in from the fields in the afternoon to adjourn to their sheds inside the city.
It is a medium-difficult trek, with some narrow and steep trails along the river bed, in an altitude between 2700 and 4200 meters.
