Introduction to Langtang Valley Trek

The Langtang Valley Trek is a popular trek in the Langtang Region. Langtang is the valley of the glacier, with more than 70 glaciers. This is Nepal’s best-hidden trekking destination and lies about 51 kilometers north of Kathmandu. Although close to the city, the Langtang Valley is rich in wild scenery. This is a nine-day trekking package that takes you to the wilderness of beauty. This trek explains the beauty of the Himalayas, the unique biodiversity, and the Tibetan lifestyle. The crystalline lakes and quiet glaciers along the trail are a delight.

The Langtang Valley is also rich in culture and diversity. The Tamang people are the ancient and major inhabitants of the Langtang valley. There are also Newari and Sherpa tribes besides Tamang. Religious practices, languages, and dresses of all ethnicities are similar to those of Tibet. Langtang is one of the most popular trekking regions for those influenced by the Tibetan lifestyle who wish to take a short trip from Kathmandu to the Himalayas.

The Beauty of  the Trek

Rhododendron varieties, majestic waterfalls, bamboo forests, snow-capped mountains, and hair-raising landscapes captivate you. Massive snowy mountains, beautiful glacial lakes, lush vegetation, Tamang people, and their unique way of life influence everyone to get there. When hiking the villages around the Langtang Valley, you will climb small peaks and visit glaciers at a comfortably low altitude.

For both nature lovers and adventure seekers in the Nepal Himalayas, the Langtang Valley trekking trip is the perfect option. The Langtang Valley is surrounded by the mountain peaks of Langtang Ri, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Himal, and Langshisa Ri, making it the main destination for trekking.

You can trek this route throughout the year. But the monsoon period is not good either; the trail is slippy and very risky. The best time to trek in this valley is from March to May and from September to November.

There is no unnecessary hassle to reach the Langtang Valley. This trek is convenient because it is not related to flight delays and cancellations. A half-day journey by jeep takes you to Syabru Besi, and from there, you will reach Langtang or Kyanjin Gompa (the oldest Buddhist monastery in this region) by walking for about three days. This is a moderate trek that is suitable for any level of travel enthusiast, so no previous trekking experience is required.

Thank you a lot for your organization about my trek. It was a superb experience; all was perfect. Karma is a very nice person and a good guide. I appreciated trekking with Odyssey (a reliable Nepal trek operator). If I come back to Nepal, I will be happy to ask you to trek with me again. I am thinking about Annapurna or the Everest trek.

Have just returned from my fourth trip to Nepal and as always Odyssey Treks organized everything superbly. We visited Makalu relatively late in the season and were rewarded with empty trails and amazing weather. Karma was as entertaining, friendly, and informative as ever along with Ang Dawa Sherpa who together made the three weeks perfect.

They also organized a few days to Helambu at short notice as I had some time spare, all done easily and professionally. Thanks for the company both and I will be back again. I cannot recommend Odyssey highly enough as a genuinely friendly, locally based company that provides not only unforgettable experiences but also great service at a very reasonable cost.

Thanks.
