Helambu Trek

The Helambu trek is a perfect short trek nearby Kathmandu Valley. Despite being so close to Kathmandu, the Helambu region remains relatively un-spoilt. Besides the Hyolmo culture of high mountain people, the company of green rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, and the snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of the most diverse treks near Kathmandu.

The specialty of this trekking route is the rich cultural heritage and hospitality of the Sherpa people who inhabit in the Helambu region. Himalayan ranges like Mt Langtang, Gaurishanker and so many other small snow-covered peaks are just situated north of Helambu. Inhabitants of mostly Sherpa community, temperate forests, brilliant displays of rhododendron and primal blooms, flora & fauna, colorful dancing festivals such as Tibetan New Year are some of the highlights of this region. This is one of the effortless trekking that is possible to trek throughout the year.

    Day 01: Drive Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1350m) and start trek to Chisopani (2140m) – approx. 4 hrs walk.

    Day 02: Trek Chisopani / Kutumsang (2446 m) – approx. 7 hrs walk

    Day 03: Trek Kutumsang / Thadepati (3650 m) – approx. 6 hrs walk

    Day 04: Trek Thadepati / Tarkeghyang (2560m) – approx. 6 hrs walk

    Day 05: Trek Tarkeghyang / Sermathang (2621m) – approx. 3 to 4 hrs walk

    Day 06: Trek Sermathang / Melamchi bazaar (850m) – approx. 3 hrs walk

    Day 07: Drive from Melamchi bazaar to Kathmandu (approx. 3 hrs drive)
